While Ibiza is well known for its party scene, that doesn’t have to be the only thing you do while on the island! There are beautiful beaches, hikes up into mountains or to secret lakes, water sports galore, yoga retreats, spas, and tons of shopping. Your Ibiza vacation can have multiple different vibes and fulfill any vacation need. We’ll go through the top 20 best things to do in Ibiza, starting now.
1. Climb the castle in Dalt Vila
Dalt Vila is the name of the neighborhood situated in the medieval castle. Many different people throughout history have lived in the castle. From the Phoenicians/Carthaginians, to the Moors, to the Catalans, this castle is well preserved across centuries of use! Climb the castle to get great views of the island, the city, and the coast line. It’s a workout for sure! There are many steps which at times get slick, so wear proper shoes to make the experience pleasant!
2. Visit the Las Dalias Hippie Market
One of the ultimate best things to do in Ibiza is to visit the iconic hippie market called Las Dalias. The market is filled with local vendors selling everything imaginable. There Ibiza made clothes and jewelry, art, books, sunglasses. You name it, the hippie market probably sells it! Also they have a restaurant and a nightclub called Akasha, so a visit here is fun any time of day.
Las Dalias is located in Sant Carlos, north of Santa Eularia. You can get there by taking an Uber or taxi to arrive in about 30 minutes. Also, you can take public transportation. You would need to take two buses, one to Santa Eularia (there are many options) and then the 16 line from Santa Eularia to Sant Carlos.
3. Watch a plane land from Ushuaia
Ushuaia is one of the most famous clubs in the WORLD and a place you should consider going while in Ibiza. It’s an outside venue with a large amphitheater that brings big names both to DJ and to enjoy the show. With its location being not far from the airport and under the path most airplanes take to land, you can get one of the sickest photos for your insta dump. If you are towards the middle or farther back in the crowd, you can get a photo of the stage with a plane landing overhead. If you want to make all your friends and followers jealous, you definitely need a picture here. It’s one of the top clubbing locations worth going to, more listed here, if that’s your vibe.
4. Explore the Old Town
The area surrounding the castle is known as the Old Town. It looks like a classic Mediterranean village, with colorful or white buildings and cobblestone roads. It’s full of adorable shops, open air restaurants, and tons of bars that make the area quite lively at night. There are tons of souvenirs and shopping to do in the Old Town. Take in and enjoy the area by getting lost in the windy roads. You can also explore the marina filled with tons of yachts to see.
5. Get into DC-10 or Pikes
Ibiza is known for legendary partying, and two of the most exclusive places to go are Pikes and DC-10. Pikes was iconic in the 70s hosting insane shows and parties that rock and roll legends would attend. Additionally they have a fabled halloween party that sells out months ahead. For both Pikes and DC-10, you can buy a ticket and still not be allowed entry. These two are difficult to get into, but can definitely bring some excitement to your trip if you want to try to go!
6. Have dinner and watch a show at Lio
If you are looking for a fun night time activity, but not too late, you should consider going to Lio. Lio is located across the harbor from Old Town on the Talamanca side and offers a great performance to watch as you eat. The dancers don’t normally have too many clothes on, but aren’t nude, so take that into consideration. Lio turns into a night club after, so you can have a fun night without staying out until the Spanish start time of 1 or 2am.
7. Go on a party boat
There are many boat excursions on the island to choose from, but one of the most popular are party boats! They’ll take you around the island, give you unlimited sangria, beer, and snacks. You’ll get to drink as well as explore new beaches that are not too easy to get to unless you have a car. This can be a great activity to do to see more of the island while also embracing the Ibiza party culture.
8. Find a celebrity at Ses Salines
There is a beach that many famous people like to visit, which is Ses Salines. Ses Salines is not far from the airport and has a few beach clubs, fancy restaurants, and boutique hotels. It’s a beautiful beach and one I recommend visiting – the rest I recommend are linked here. If you want a more private beach experience and also the opportunity to spot someone famous, this might be the beach for you!
9. Go clubbing at Pacha
The symbol of Pacha is a pair of cherries, which has simultaneously become the symbol for Ibiza as well. Pacha is one of, if not, the most famous of the Ibiza clubs. It has an iconic Flower Power party that started in the 70s and was revamped for the 2024 party season. Lots of big name DJs also come here, like Diplo who performs at least once a month. They lean more towards techno music, so if that’s your thing or you want to say you’ve been, go to Pacha!
10. See Bresh at Amnesia
This is one of the most raved about parties of the summer, as it’s completely different from most other parties on the island. Bresh plays mixes of the most nostalgic music. It has Y2K hits, Disney classics, and tons of songs to get you singing and dancing. When I tell people I lived in Ibiza, half of the people that I tell who have visited have asked if I went to Bresh. If you have the time, I HIGHLY recommend going to Amnesia for a Bresh Thursday.
11. Find the club bathroom in Hi Ibiza
Hi Ibiza has the prestigious title of number one rated club in the WORLD, and has held said title for three consecutive years. Being able to say you’ve been to the top club in the world I think is one of the best things to do in Ibiza. Hi and Ushuaia are owned by the same company. Ushuaia operates during the “day” from 5pm to 11pm while Hi is open from midnight until 6am. Like Ushuaia and Pacha, they have tons of world class well known DJs who come to perform at Hi. They have one very famous bathroom that has its own club, dancefloor, and DJ inside. So while you wait in line for the bathroom, you can dance to music and enjoy!
12. Party at all four super clubs
This is a bucket list item you can aim for during your vacation if partying is your main goal. The four “super clubs” are Pacha, Hi, Ushuaia, and Amnesia. They are all world class clubs ranked in the top 100 clubs world wide. All of them have iconic parties you can visit during your time in Ibiza if you want to check these elite four off your list.
13. Rent a car and find Atlantis
There are tons of secret beaches you can only get to with a car and a hike. Many of these types of places are difficult to get to, with no markers and only online instructions to go off of. Atlantis is one of those elusive places. To get to Atlantis you will need good shoes for declining down a cliff side for sure. You can use the instructions on this page to hopefully find the way!
14. See a show at Cova Santa
Cova Santa is a hidden gem and one of the best things to do in Ibiza! It’s more inland from Playa den Bossa and Ibiza town to a massive amphitheater with a dinner and show. At night the party continues in an underground bunker. Since it isn’t the most easy place to get to, this can be a one of a kind experience that most other people don’t do.
15. Watch the sunset at an Es Vedra lookout
Es Vedra is a massive rock off the coast of Ibiza with a fascinating history. It’s one of the most magnetic places in the world and has tons of strange sightings. People have seen aliens landing on Es Vedra and other supernatural things. Whether or not it’s true, the rock faces the west, so you can watch the sun set over Es Vedra for a beautiful calm beginning to your night.
16. Take a ferry to Formentera
There are four islands that make up the Balearics: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera. While Mallorca and Menorca are nearby each other, Ibiza and Formentera are super close together. You can get from Ibiza to Formentera in about 30 minutes. Formentera is filled with adorable little towns, delicious gelato, and stunning beaches. The island is also home to the famous Blue Bar. It’s a hippie alien themed restaurant where legends like Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix used to hang out. Formentera is a fun and different place to explore.
17. Have dinner at at one of the five Ibiza Town Michelin star restaurants
Ibiza is home to five restaurants that have a Michelin star. Many people come to Ibiza for a luxurious vacation. If that’s you and you’re a foodie, add this to your bucket list. In total, Ibiza as an island has 19 Michelin star restaurants. In Ibiza Town, the five restaurants are more traditional Ibicencan food or Japanese/fusion. Here I’ve linked the Michelin website for you to look at your options.
18. Try some local food
Why not try eating what the locals eat while you’re here? You can try sobrasada, which are traditional pork sausages, hierbas, which is a herb infused liquor, or Paella Ibicenca, which has local seafood with either chicken or rabbit. While Ibicencan food isn’t something many people think of when they come to Ibiza, take your trip to the next level and try something new.
19. Visit San Antonio
San Antonio is the second most popular town for tourists to visit after Ibiza Town. People argue whether Ibiza Town or San Antonio has better clubbing and nightlife. While I personally think Ibiza Town has the superior party scene, feel free to check it out and try to prove me wrong! San Antonio is home to places like O Beach, Ibiza Rocks and Eden. You can get to San Antonio via Uber or taxi in about 20 minutes or via public transportation in about 45 minutes.
20. Go to a new beach outside of Ibiza Town!
While there probably is a beach not far from your hotel or accommodation, just know that no matter how beautiful it is, there are even better beaches on the island. Ibiza has tons of coast line with a myriad of stunning beaches. Some are hard to get to, others aren’t thanks to public transportation. If you are looking for somewhere other than Figueretes or Playa Den Bossa, take a look at my other blog post on lesser known beaches. The bus can take you to many other more secluded beaches for cheap. Or, a taxi, renting a car, or an Uber can take you to even more.
After calling Ibiza my home for nine months, the island holds a special place in my heart (if you are interested in how I did this and my thoughts about living on the island, check out this post). The combination of the fantastic food, crazy nights out, and the natural beauty of the beaches and mountains, makes Ibiza an amazing place to visit. To me, these are the BEST things to do in Ibiza to enjoy your time on the island to the fullest.
I hope you have an unreal and memorable trip!
