The end of summer signifies the beginning of fall – a season that brings in the cold weather and Halloween! While it seems as though no season can beat summer, if you are always wishing for another season, you’ll never fully enjoy the one you’re in. That’s why I think it’s so important to romanticize the present season. Make your fall purposefully magical by checking these off your to do list!
Go to a Fall Festival
One of the best things about living in New England is that there are tons of fall festivals happening. Hopefully in your area there are some as well! I think an easy way to romanticize the fall is to go to a fall festival and support the local people! There’s bound to be cider, a corn maze, a hay ride, or something that you enjoy that screams fall!
While this isn’t a festival, I went to Salem, Mass last year and had a great time! I thought it was adorable and had tons of witchy things to see and do. This day trip helped me embrace the fall by seeing and learning about something that interests me!

Enjoy The Foliage
One of the BEST things to do in fall is to enjoy the beautiful change of color in the leaves. While they are certainly not fun to clean up, they are to be admired in their vibrant hue when up in the trees! Don’t take for granted that you get to see the leaves change colors where you live! A great way to enjoy this is to go for a hike or spend time outdoors. You could also take a day trip north, which for me is Vermont, to see the autumn foliage in full force.

Watch Your Favorite Fall Movie/Show
If you are looking to get excited or inspired for the fall, an easy way you can do this is to turn on your favorite fall show or movie that screams fall! I know tons of people enjoy Gilmore Girls, which I personally have not watched! For me, my go to is Harry Potter. The movies always start in the fall, with the start of school, and also feel nostalgic. Get into the fall spirit while cozy under a blanket at home.

Bake!
One thing that feels incredibly fall-y to me, is baking. There’s something about heating up your oven to make something sugary when it’s a little cold outside that feels like quintessential autumn vibes in my eyes. For me, apples are the best fruit of the season, so I will be making something with apple in it! Whether you want to make an apple pie or apple cider donuts like me, or use another star ingredient like pumpkin, baking is a great thing to do this autumn.

Have A Bonfire
One of the best things to do in the fall is to enjoy the outdoors before it gets too cold! The season is full of those days where it feels like winter in the morning but then summer in the afternoon. Take advantage of the warmness before its gone! Host a bonfire to hang outside with friends and or family. You could drink cider you bought at the festival, break out the grill for one of the last times this year, and make s’mores or another fireside treat.

Make Your Fall Curriculum
The fall is nostalgic because it feels like a new beginning, like going back to school. A way that people who are done with their schooling are utilizing this energy is by creating their own curriculum! Brainstorm some things you want to do more of or learn more about. Then plan times, or your “class time” to work on these each week. Being strategic about learning and doing new things keeps your brain sharp when life get monotonous.
Soft Launch Your New Years Resolution
if you aren’t sure about your resolution for next year, doing a trial run of your idea could be a great thing to do this fall! Start testing some out hobbies or working towards attainable goals and see what sticks! The winter can feel isolating, so perhaps starting now could build momentum towards what you want to achieve, plus you’ll get results sooner if you start now! Conclusion
When it comes to romanticizing the fall, the key is to slow down and try to imagine what you can do or get in the fall that you can’t get in any other season! If autumn was just ending, what would you be sad you missed? While I hope this list inspired you, the best way for you to romanticize any season is to feel what fells good and nostalgic to your childhood!
